Dr. Maye,

I have been thinking about Hampton's Music Department for a while now and I wanted to get in contact with you to let you know how I am doing after graduating in 2008.  I have been very blessed to work for Radium Springs Middle Magnet School of the Arts.  I have you as well as all of my professors to thank.  I love working with my choral students.  I teach 6-8 grade.  I currently am teaching chorus and piano, which are my yearlong classes.  I also teach music appreciation which is a nine-week class.  My fine arts team and I are so cohesive I enjoy working with them all.  Last year I participated in putting on my very first musical I have ever worked on entitled Once on This Island.

The administration helps to make the school culture very pleasant.  I was recently named the Magnet Coordinator so I now am in charge of bringing in magnet students to the program as well as keeping up with all of the magnet students currently enrolled in our school.  This is a big responsibility and I am loving every minute of it.

Thinking back to August 2004, when I first arrived to Hampton University's Music Department, I never could have dreamed of having the future that I am living right now.  From the classroom, to interacting with the professors outside of the classroom, the performances, recitals, and the conversations you and I had, I believe all of these things have made me into the woman I am today.

I just want to say "Thank you" from the bottom of my heart.
