Kamora Avent is a native of Nash county, North Carolina, and has recently moved from Durham, NC.  She received her B.A. in Theatre with a concentration in Performance, and graduated Summa Cum Laude, from North Carolina Central University.  She continued her education at the Unversity of North Carolina at Greensboro receiving a M.F.A. in Drama with a concentration in Film/Video.  During the past five years, Ms. Avent has successfully engaged her students in a creative and enriching learning environment not otherwise obtained in other education courses by giving students a platform to discuss and contextualize the material in present day relation and meaning.  Her classroom methodologies not only benefitted students in her courses, but they were able to apply what they were learning to other courses and subject matters.  She intends to pursue her Ph.D./J.D. in Psychology and Law through a dual degree program.  Ms. Avent is happy to be added as a new member of the Hampton University family.
