CPT Flowers was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Infantry. As a Lieutenant, he attended the Infantry’s Officers Basic Course, Ranger School, and Mechanized Leaders Course. He was later assigned to 2nd Battalion 6th Infantry, 1st Armor Division, in Baumholder, Germany, where he served as a Bradley Platoon Leader, Scout Platoon Leader, the Assistant S3 Operations Officer and Delta Company Commander.
Following his previous assignments, he was once again assigned to Fort Benning, GA where he attended the Maneuvers Captain Career Course (MCCC). After completing MCCC, CPT Flowers was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Assault) in Fort Campbell, Kentucky where he served as the Battalion Logistics Officer, Infantry Company Commander, and Security Force Adviser Team Commander.
CPT Flowers has served on multiple humanitarian and combat tours. Most notably he served twice in Afghanistan as Company Commander and Security Force Adviser Team Commander, and in Iraq as a planning officer.
His personal awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (second award), Meritorious Service Medal (1 x oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with V device), Army Commendation Medal (2 x oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal (7 x oak leaf clusters), Afghan Campaign Medal (2 Campaign Stars), Iraq Campaign Medal (1 Campaign Stars), Valorous Unit Citation, Army Superior Unit Award, Global War on Terror Medal, National Defense Service Medal ( 2 awards), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Ranger Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
